Hi! I’m Susan and I love making cards. I have been making cards since 2010, and I have always been happy in the card making process but in 2022 this joy was amplified when I adopted two kittens, Smoke and Blaze, who took over my craft room. Making cards with the cats is always fun… and never predictable. They are curious and interested in what I am doing, especially if it involves watercolor! They are as much a part of my process as the ink and paper. They make me laugh and they inspire me. Therefore, I have named my site after them “Smoke-n-Blaze Crafts”.

The purpose of this website is to build community. This is not a business it is a crazy wonderful hobby that I want to share. I also want to meet and hear from other card designers. This website allows me to build the space to organize and share information that doesn’t easily fit on Facebook or Instagram. Building a website is new to me, and I expect a lot of things to change so I appreciate your patience. I also appreciate your positive and constructive comments. Please be kind.

Card Making is Magical

There is something magical about a hand-made card. The magic starts with the idea of the card, which ignites excitement and the exploration of technique, color, image, and sentiment. As this exploration solidifies into the design, I am filled with joy mixed with childlike awe. I have been making cards for over a decade and when I am finished, I still can’t believe that I made this!”

This hobby is amazing!! The best part of card making is the final product is designed to be given away. The joy that is embedded into a product is passed on to the final recipient. Like I said - Magical!!
